Family and Childhood
Sundar Pichai was born on July 12, 1972, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. His father's name was Regunatha Pichai and his mother's name was Lakshmi Pichai. His father worked as an Electrical Engineer and his mother used to be a Stenographer before having children. He has one brother whose name is Srinivasan Pichai. He grew up in a middle-class home. He was an excellent student.

He completed his education till 10th from Jawahar Vidyalaya, Ashok Nagar, Chennai. Further, he completed his XII from Vana Vani school. He completed his B.Tech in Metallurgic Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
From here, he got a scholarship to study material science and semiconductor physics from Stanford University. He went on to complete his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2002 from where he got the title of "Siebel Scholar" and "Palmer Scholar".
He also holds a Masters's degree in Material Science and Engineering from Stanford University. He initially planned to pursue a Ph.D. from Stanford and embarked on an academic career.

Initially, he worked on Google's search tool as a part of a small team. The tool gave users of Internet Explorer and Firefox easy access to Google search. Pichai was sure that search tool has no future because choosing a search every time while browsing is not convenient for anyone and he developed Chrome as a solution of this problem.
Before developing Chrome, he discussed his idea with his seniors and faced an objection from CEO of that time Eric Schmidt who thought that developing a browser would be a too expensive affair.
He played a pivotal role in the ultimate launch of the browser Google Chrome. However Pichai persevered and convinced the co-founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin to launch Google's own browser, which went far ahead of the coming in very less time. Pichai has a very polite nature. He married to Anjali Pichai. She is a Chemical Enginner from Kota, Rajasthan. They both were classmates at IIT Kharagpur. They have two kids.

- He was the captain of his school's Cricket team.
