People consider him the God of cricket. His team mates call him Sir. And when he bats in the field, there is one voice, all around. "Sachin! Sachin!" Yes this is the Biography of Sachin Tendulkar.

Birth and Family Background

Sachin Tendulkar was born on 24th April 1973. His father's name is Ramesh Tendulkar and mother's name is Rajini. His father named his son after his favorite music director, Sachin Dev Burman.

Full name of Sachin Tendulkar is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. His father Ramesh Tendulkar was a well-known Marathi novelist and his mother Rajini worked in the insurance industry.

The young boy had a different line of thinking. He always wanted to be famous in the field of sport and not music. At that nobody knew that this kid would create a sensation in the world of cricket at such a young age. Sachin Tendulkar's elder brother Ajit Tendulkar encouraged him a lot.

Sachin's Interest in cricket since Childhood

Sachin Tendulkar practiced a lot in ground since his childhood. His teacher whose name was Achrekar, simply placed one rupee coin on the stumps with a condition that if somebody bowl him out then the bowler will be the winner of this coin, otherwise that coin will belong to the Sachin. Sachin won total 13 coins which he considers his biggest award till date.

Joined Indian Cricket team at the age of 16 

At 16, Sachin Tendulkar debuted in international cricket. His first test match was against the Pakistani team. The Pakistani bowlers played at their best level against Sachin and during the match, he got a hit on nose by a bouncer. He began to bleed but his dedication towards his game was way more bigger than the pain. So he continued to play on the field. It is believed when the tiger is wounded he becomes even more dangerous. That's what happened to Sachin. Sachin played so well that the match is remembered till today.

Sachin's Various Records

Sachin Tendulkar has every possible record to his credit.
  • He made 200 hundred runs in one day cricket. 
  • India lifted the World Cup after 28 years and in 2011, when he won the world cup, he shed tears of Joy.
  • He has the record of 100 international centuries to his name.
  • He is the only player, who has completed more than 30,000 runs in international cricket
  • Sachin Tendulkar was awarded with the "Arjuna Award" in 1994 for his outstanding sporting achievement. 
  • He received the "Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna" award in 1997 which is India's highest sporting honour.
  • He was also awarded with the "Padma Shri" and "Padma Bhushan" Awards in 1999 and 2008 respectively.
  • Prime Minister's Office announced the decision to award him with the "Bharat Ratna" (India's highest civilian award) on the date of 16 November, 2013. He is the youngest recipient till date and the first ever sports person to receive the award.
  • He has also won the 2010 Sir Garfield sobers trophy for cricketer of the year at the ICC Awards in 2012.
  • Tendulkar was nominated to the Rajya Sabha which is the upper house of the Parliament of India. 

Personal Life of Sachin

One on hand, Sachin was breaking every record. On the other hand, he was looking into affairs of the heart. He lost his heart to Dr. Anjali. He married her, on 26th May 1995. Sachin and Anjali have 2 children. A daughter named Sarah and she was born on 12nd October in 1997. His son Arjun was born on 24th September 1999. Very few people know that Anjali is 6 years older than Sachin.

Major Points of his Journey in Cricket

There was a time, when Sachin used to play alone. And everyone returned to the pavilion.

Nobody can forget the Victory of India in a match against Australia in Sharjah. And very soon, Sachin became a Vice Captain and from a Vice Captain to a Captain. But his captaincy didn't proved to be good for the Indian team. Sachin's senior player, Mohammad Azharuddin said it once that the team would never win under the captaincy of Sachin.

Sachin's haters also said that he should retire. Sachin usually responds more with his bat than his words. But when the pressure raised too much then, Sachin responded humbly to it and he said ," I think, I have to decide, when I am going to retire." He further added to his words that when he started playing he followed only his coach's and family's advice and not people's advice.

Retirement from Cricket

In December 2012, Sachin's retirement from ODI's was announced. He retired from 20-20 cricket in October 2013. After that announcement of his retirement from all forms of cricket was held on 16 November 2013. The last match he played was his 200th match which was against the West Indies in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

Sachin Tendulkar is known as one of the Greatest Batsmen of all time in all over the world. He is considered as one of the Complete Batsmen ever. Every Indian should be proud of him. Nobody can replace him and no words can express his amazing talent.
